How does the post scoring work?
Posts are listed in order by their score. A posts score is the number of LOL smileys (

) it has
received minus the number of grumpy smileys (

) it has received.
How do the blog rankings work?
Blogs are listed in order by their score. A blog's score is determined by adding the scores
of all the posts from that blog from the past 30 days.
My blog just dropped [some big number] points for NO REASON. What is up
with that?
Because the score is a rolling total of post scores from the past 30 days, occasionally
a post will 'drop out' of the 30 day window, resulting in a lower score for the
blog.
I just gave a smiley to a post, but the blog's score went down! What is
up with that?
This happens because a post dropped out of the 30 day scoring window. A blog's
score gets recalculated when someone votes for (or against) a post from that blog,
so occasionally voting for a post will appear to lower the blog's score.
How do I get my posts to show up on Humor Blogs?
First, your blog must be listed on Humor Blogs. Second, you must have provided us with the url to your blog's rss/atom feed. Enter your
feed url in the Feed Url box in your blog settings. If you do not specify a feed
url, Humor Blogs will attempt to determine your blog's feed url.
What the &%$# is a 'Feed Url'???
An RSS or Atom feed is a simplified version of your blog that is designed to be read by
feed readers or other automated processes. Most blog platforms automatically
publish a feed along with your blog. The standard Blogspot feed url is
http://YourBlogName.blogspot.com/rss.xml. The standard
Wordpress feed url is http://YourBlogName.Wordpress.com/feed/.
My blog is listed on Humor Blogs and I specified my rss feed url
but my post still isn't showing up. What am I doing wrong?
You can force Humor Blogs to look for your post by clicking on the link from the post
to Humor Blogs. If it doesn't show up, make sure that you've provided
us with a valid rss feed url. You can click the "Validate feed url" link next
to the feed url textbox or go to http://feedvalidator.org
to make sure your feed url is valid.
If you've verified all of these things and your post still isn't showing up, please
contact us and provide as much information as possible
(post title, blog url, posting date, etc.)
Do I have to put any special code in my links to Humor Blogs so that users can
rate my posts?
No. Just link to http://humor-blogs.com. Humor Blogs does its best to determine which post the user came from. If the
url of the page is different from the url of the post,
however (for example, if
the user clicks on a link from your home page), it
is unable to do this, and will just display a list of recent posts from your site. To help
Humor Blogs find the exact post, you can format your link like this:
<a href="http://humor-blogs.com?PostLink=POST_URL">Humor Blogs</a>
...where POST_URL is the permanent link to the post. For example, in classic Blogger,
add this to your template:
In new Blogger, add this to your template:
Do NOT put 'POST_URL' in your link. You have to use the actual url to the
post, either by typing it by hand or by letting your blogging platform fill it in
for you (see examples above).
What happened to those nifty banners that used to display in the blog listings?
We've replaced the banners with snapshots of the actual blogs, to give users a better
feeling for what the blog is like.
